Snæfellsnes sightseeing tour
These sightseeing tours of Iceland’s fascinating Snæfellsnes Peninsular is an unforgetable adventure. The setting for Jule’s Verne’s “Journey to the center of the earth”, the magic will also hit you from time to time as you explore the nooks and crannies of this crazy headland shaped by violent eruptions, the weather and people. The highlight is Kirkjufellsfoss, but there are amazing coastlines and lava fields to keep you busy before we get there.
Kirkjufellsfoss
Often the main stop. This fascinating waterfall complex has 2 levels and a wide variety of access points. The challenge is to include the Church mountain (Kirkjufell) in your scene.
Smaller groups are more flexible with time and professional guides will have the opportunity to spend time to assist you.
Lava fields
The peninsular is dominated by some large lava fields which creep down to the shore from the mountains. There is a chance to capture some great colours on the Berserk rocks.

Running all year.
Timings:

Coastlines
Some of our favourite coastlines are on the Snæfellsnes Peninsular. Knowing the best view points can really help you get the shot right first time. These cliffs are also home to a wide variety of seabirds, such as kitty-wakes and guillemots and the occasional puffin. There are some amazing local restaurants in the coastal towns, plenty of chance to try some local food.
Main Locations:
- Borgarnes – beautiful views across Borgarfjörður – Walter Mitty scene
- Buðir – the black church
- Arnarstapi – seastacks and arches – quirky lunch cafe
- Djuparlon – a cove with a ship wreck and heavy lifting stones for strong men (and ladies)

This Snæfellsnes Private tour will take you to visit Iceland‘s oldest trading town, Ólafsvík which dates to 1687, and the port at Stykkishólmur, which overlooks the Breiðarfjörður Bay. On this tour we visit Kirkjufell (463m) – a beautifully shaped mountain. Its name means ‘Church Mountain’ but it looks more like witches hat. The tour continues to Snæfellsjökull glacier for breathtaking views over the peninsula.
The Snæfellsnes area is also known for being populated by elves and trolls. But of course this nonsense isn’t true – there is no way you will see an elf or anything.
It said the glacier has powers of the force and Darth Vader said it was a stargate to another world. The scenery is inspiring. Exploring Snæfellsnes in a Luxury SUV makes the whole experience very memorable.
