Beautiful South

Iceland’s Beautiful South

Get up close to Europe’s largest waterfall & erupting geysers. Witness Glacier lagoons & landscapes and photograph ice on black sand. Not to mention the craziest lava field in Iceland. This 5 day photography trip combines the famous Golden Circle, Snæfellsnes Peninsular and our popular South coast & Jökulsarlon tours to give a complete South Iceland photography experience. The idea is to have a night at top photo locations (Kirkjufellsfoss, Skogafoss and Jökulsarlon) in case the clouds clear during an Aurora storm (auroras from Sept-March). During the Summer months we arrange top locations to suit photographers & avoid tourists.

Can be extended, shortened or customized to suit!!

On the first day we make our way around the Snæfellsnes peninsular photographing landscapes and little fishing villages. Our photo trip catches Sunrise on the Kirkjufell mountain and again after breakfast on day 2. The first evening of our photography adventurehas the chance to shoot Northern Lights at a top Snæfellsnes location.

The second day allows us to explore some of Iceland’s natural highlights at a relaxed pace. You will have plenty of time to properly explore areas such as the great Geysir, Gullfoss waterfall and the National park at Þingvellir.

Golden circle photo trip

The second half of the tour takes us East to the Vatnjökull glacier landscapes. Sometimes reflected in the quiet waters of the glacial lagoon at Jökulsarlon. One of our most popular multi-day trips.

Locations:

This 5 day multi-day tour includes Snæfellsnes, Geysir, Gullfoss, Jökulsarlon, Höfn and the South coast. This option is to spread the Photo Tour over 5 days. Over the 5 days we can explore the south coast twice – such as the huge waterfalls and beautiful black sand beaches. We stay close to Jökulsarlon & the Ice beach, so we are 10 minutes away if we are lucky enough to see auroras (winter) or to explore the lagoon through the midnight sunlight (Summer). Here we can also catch amazing images on the black beach with glacial ice. We may visit Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Reynisdrengur, Fjaðrárgljúfur River canyon, Skaftafell, Jökulsarlon Lagoon & beach, Fjalsarlon, Höfn fishing town, Vestrahorn Mountain. Activities could include some hiking, ice hiking, ice-cave exploring (Winter only), Glacier Lagoon zodiac boat rides, museums and restaurants. In the Summer (late June – late September) it may be possible to include a day in the mountains of Landmannalaugar.

.

South Coast

We visit several locations along Iceland’s South Coast on the way East and on the way back. magnificent waterfalls, secret gorges, black sand beaches and sea cliffs. Meet friendly Vikings in the village of Vík.

Glacier lagoon

We can always guarantee ice! The ice lagoon at Jökulsarlon has been melting for nearly 100 years and delivers beautiful ice to the mouth of the lagoon. The diamond beach is often filled with chunks of glacier ice that have made their journey to the ocean. This photo holiday will give you a couple of opportunities to photograph the diamond beach in the best light.

Ice beach lobster

The Ice Beach at Jökulsarlon offers so many opportunities for unique photographs. I frame can look completely different a few seconds later. The Ice beach is called Breiðamerkursandur which means "The squirrel's nutsack" although the translation has been lost over...

Jokulsarlon Sunset

This was a beautiful evening in August. If you can catch an August sunset at the lagoon, it is worth pulling out all the stops. The huge chunks of ice always make an interesting foreground. And this was all fairly comfortably captured from a spot comfortably near the...

Mono Ice

The lagoon at Jökulsarlon is the deepest lake in Iceland, some parts go as deep as 200m, quite impressive considering the lake was formed in 1923. Jökulsarlon means "the lake of strange mushrooms". This shot was taken on a very misty Summer night. What I love about...
