Around Iceland winter photo workshops with Skarpi.

Skarpi is scheduling a couple of Iceland Winter photo workshops around the whole island with a focus on Winter landscape photography; Winter waterfalls, Geothermal features, glacial Ice with a good chance of photographing Aurora. The season for these workshops will be from November through Feb.

These intense 11 day photo workshops are set in the stunning landscapes on the edge of Iceland with some of the top places in the world for Aurora photography.  Drama happens frequently here in the Winter – we can expect a variety of weather systems and witness first hand their effect on the Landscapes and People of Iceland.  Some remote areas are only possible with local knowledge and modified vehicles.

Highlights include:
  • Glaciers and ice caves.
  • Major Waterfalls such as Godafoss (Waterfall of The Gods), remote Aldeyjarfoss and Hrafnabjargarfoss.
  • Vik – black sand beach.
  • Hvitserkur (Dinosaur Rock) in Hunafloi.
  • Jökulsarlon – ice beach and glacier lagoon.
  • Lake Myvatn with the geothermal hotsprings and volcanic craters.
  • The whole tour we travel on a specially modified super truck to get to all the remote locations, off the beaten track.

Day 3, 4 & 5: Vatnjökull National Park

After sunrise at Vík on day 3, we head to a great hotel in a great location for some quality time among Europe’s largest glacier. Jökulsarlon and many glacier lagoons and moraines set the scene for some epic Winter light. Ice-caves captivate your imagination and the random chunks of glacier ice on the volcanic black sand test your photography composition. Northern lights frequently adorn the clear night skies here and an Aurora in this landscape is a real treat.
