Northern lights climb into the night sky over Jokulsarlon. It was a windy evening so I didn’t expect any reflections in the glacier lagoon. The northern lights were not very active, but when this streak of aurora snaked up into the sky, I quickly turned my camera to vertical position and managed two photos of this short lived event.
This vertical nature photo from Iceland shows the importance of the shape of the aurora as it climbs into the night sky. I only took two frames with this composition.
This Northern Lights photo is quite unusual for me because I am using f/8 aperture. Although it required a bit more exposure, these are the sharpest stars I have ever photographed.
