Northern Lights Alert
issued 5th Dec 2017
There is a high change of catching Northern lights over the next few nights. Clear conditions are necessary for good views. They should be visible, equally in all parts of Iceland given the right conditions for clear skies.
If you find yourself with clear skies, try to get away from the city. The Aurora is usually in the Northern sky, so it usually makes sense to go North of the city lights.
To photograph the Northern lights, it is best to have a quality camera that can handle long exposures. A tripod is very useful to hold your camera still over long exposures.
