Iceland Photography
northern lights
The Aurora Borealis is an amazing light show that is on many people's top-ten things to see list.
The northern lights depend on both earth weather and space weather to ensure a good view. They are always occurring, but at different strengths according to the sun's cycle. They can be predicted with relative accuracy if a sun spot (solar storm) is observed. There are several other scientific instruments which can measure the incidence of solar activity and magnetic storms around the earth.
They are often clearly visible from Iceland if the conditions are right!
As they cannot be guaranteed, I am running workshops which work around your availability whilst you are in Iceland. If you want to improve your chances of seeing and photographing the Northern lights, please read the following instructions carefully:
Use the Reservation function and choose Northern Lights Workshops and let me know the dates when you are available from and until. Workshops start in the evening around 22.00 use the Special instructions or comments: dialogue box to state evenings when you are not available.
This workshop is entirely dependent on good weather and a 60% chance of an Aurora Storm. The first 5 people will be contacted if and when the conditions are right. The cost of the tour is $80 for each person and the duration could be up to 6 hours. $30 will be refunded if we are unable to photograph the aurora.
